Advisory Council

Community Representatives on the Detroit Area Agency Advisory Council meet monthly to discuss various issues, policies and plans which affect older persons. This body advises the Board of Directors and acts as an advocate for older adults in Region 1-A.

The Advisory Council will have a major role in developing DAAA aging policy recommendations. By empowering older adults to provide ongoing input on policies which affect them, DAAA will help build consumer responsive systems of aging.

According to a model recently adopted by the DAAA Board of Directors, the Advisory Council will have subcommittees that will address issues on, Assisted Living; Housing; Health/Long Term Care; Care giving; Transportation; Income/Employment; Recreation/Senior Centers; Academia and Religion.

The Advisory Council is comprised of representatives of communities in the PSA 1-A.
